Sound as rest for the nervous system

Many of us know how to push through the day on a tired nervous system. Rest can feel like a luxury, or something we will get to later.

In a sound bath, there is nothing you have to do. You rest on the floor, fully clothed, while simple patterns of sound move through the space. Crystal and metal bowls, chimes, and gentle percussion create waves that the body can feel as much as hear.

As the body listens, the breath often slows on its own. Muscles soften. The mind can wander, drift, or drop into a quieter place than usual.

This kind of rest does not fix everything. It does not erase the real work of life. But it can offer the nervous system a different rhythm to remember, one that is a little slower and kinder.

You do not have to understand the science of sound to feel its effects. You only need a mat, a blanket, and permission to rest.
